A Local Church with a Global Vision

1. Jesus Is Our Message

We believe the foundation of everything is to follow Jesus. The primary purpose of our services is to equip people to follow Jesus not just on Sunday but in their everyday lives. Methods will come and go, yet our message will remain the same.

2. People Are Our Heart

We love because Christ first loved us. And love opens the door for truth. "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" (John 13:35). We desire to bring the prodigal home at all costs. We believe that our light is best seen in the night.

3. Family

Temple of Refuge is a community, not just a crowd. Come as a guest and leave as family. We celebrate diversity in unity. There's room for you at the table. God sets the lonely in families (Psalm 68:6).

4. Excellence Is Our Spirit

We're going to always do the best with what we have. We're on time, engaged, and prepared. We don't do things halfway. If we're going to do it, it's to the best of our ability.

5. Service Is Our Identity

If you're too big to serve, then you are too small to lead. We believe the greatest leadership is service to others. Every leader is a servant first. From the parking lot to the pulpit, everyone serves. Every role is different, but they are all important (John 13).

6. Outreach Is Our Calling

William Tyndale said, "The church exists for those outside it." We're a missional community that is for our city and world, not just in it. "Open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest" (John 4:35).

7. Honor Is Our Pursuit

Truth without love isn't truth; love without truth isn't true love. We treasure and preach God's Word as the highest form of truth. Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:31-32). We submit to leadership and are thankful for spiritual authority. We choose joyfully to submit to those God has placed over us. We honor and care for those God has placed under us.

8. Generosity Is Our Privilege

Generosity is our privilege because Jesus was first generous toward us. Generosity is about giving more than what is required. We see generosity as a privilege. We're generous with our time, talents, and treasure. God has given richly toward us; it's our honor to give back to Him (2 Corinthians 9).
